The most advanced skin rejuvenation technology using the world’s leading
picosecond laser.
Picosecond laser technology represents one of the most advanced skin rejuvenation methods available today. Through its extraordinary speed and precision, it effectively shatters unwanted pigmentation, stimulates new collagen production, and improves the appearance of scars and wrinkles, while requiring minimal downtime.
At Wellmed, we use the latest PicoLO technology, recognized as one of the safest and most effective devices in its category.
PicoLO Skin Rejuvenation
What is a Picosecond Laser?
A picosecond laser delivers ultra-short bursts of light energy measured in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second). This extremely fast pulse duration allows the treatment to work through a photomechanical effect, rather than thermal damage. As a result, the technology:- does not burn the skin but works through photomechanical action
- shatters pigment particles into microscopic fragments, allowing the body to eliminate them faster
- stimulates strong collagen production
- is safe even for darker skin types
- is significantly less painful and less irritating than traditional Q-switched or other laser systems
- uses highly precise, ultra-focused light energy
- promotes smoother, firmer and more youthful-looking skin naturally
- targets only the problem area while leaving surrounding tissue intact → safer treatment and faster recovery
- does not cause photosensitivity, allowing treatments to be performed even during summer
When is Picosecond Laser Treatment Recommended?
- pigmentation spots, sunspots and freckles
- melasma (dark facial pigmentation)
- acne scars and injury-related scars
- enlarged pores and uneven skin texture
- dull, aging skin
- fine wrinkles
- tattoo removal (both colored and black ink)
- overall skin rejuvenation (Pico Toning)
How Does Picosecond Laser Work?
The picosecond laser delivers ultra-short pulses of light that break pigment particles into tiny fragments while simultaneously stimulating collagen production.
Because the treatment works through photomechanical energy rather than heat, it is both safe and gentle on the skin.
How Many Treatments Are Needed?
The number of sessions depends on the specific concern:
- pigmentation spots: 1–3 treatments
- skin rejuvenation: 2–4 treatments
- scars: 3–5 treatments
- tattoo removal: 4–10 treatments
- Pico toning / skin refreshing: 3–6 treatments
Is the Treatment Painful?
The treatment is almost painless. Patients typically feel only a mild tingling or snapping sensation that is well tolerated.
For individuals with extremely sensitive skin, a topical numbing cream can be applied, ensuring a comfortable and virtually pain-free procedure.
Is There Any Downtime?
Downtime is usually minimal or none.
- mild redness may appear for 2–4 days
- during pigment treatments, the spots may temporarily darken or form small superficial marks before fading within a few days
- after tattoo removal, the skin may appear whitish or “frosted” for 30–60 minutes
How Quickly Are Results Visible?
For pigmentation treatments, pigment changes may be visible immediately after treatment, with clearer skin appearing within 1–2 weeks.
For skin rejuvenation treatments, visible improvement usually appears after 1–2 sessions, with continued collagen stimulation improving the skin over time.
